Missing from F1 since 1990, the Grand Prix du Castellet made its big comeback during the 2018 season. Every year, at the end of June, the Junior Formula, Formula Renault, Formula Ford, and above all, Formula 1 to 3 events take place there.

The circuit Paul Ricard (CPR) is located in the Var not far from the international airports of Marseille Provence (68km) and Toulon-Hyères (52km).
This emblematic circuit was built in 1970 on the initiative of Paul Ricard, mayor of the village of Signes. Passionate about cars, he wanted to create an international automobile competition in the region.
The championship puts in competition major car manufacturers who constitute teams. These last ones have each one of two single-seaters and two pilots who will compete against each other from the starting grid.
Two classifications will thus be established at the time of the grand prix: the pilots on one hand and the teams on the other hand.
Among these manufacturers will be Mercedes, the leader since 2013, Ferrari, the emblematic team of the Schumacher years, and Renault, McLaren, Williams and Redbull, which have been very popular in recent years.
We will also be able to take advantage of Aston Martin’s return to Formula 1 after 60 years of absence.
The F1 World Championship consists of 23 races or Grand Prix, taking place between March and December, all over the world. Every year, each team develops a new car which is tested in winter at a dedicated event. All the teams have the same time to carry out the tests and therefore the last modifications before the competition starts.
Each Grand Prix is spread over 3 days, from Friday to Sunday. Friday is reserved for free practice to allow the drivers to take in hand the track specific to each circuit and to adapt the car for the race as well as possible. On Saturday are held the qualifications where each driver tries to have the best lap time to be the best placed on the starting grid and get closer to the pole position. And Sunday is the big day! The 10 teams’ 20 drivers compete in the Grand Prix.
The season will start in Sakhir (Bahrain) in March and end in Abu Dhabi before the festive season. The French Grand Prix will take place from June 25 to 27. It is the 8th Grand Prix of the year.
Renault, renamed Alpine for this new edition, has to deal with the famous Daniel Ricciardo’ departure. Nevertheless, the team will once again be able to count on Fernando Alonso and his two world championship titles. They will also be able to count on the young Esteban Ocon’s talent which proved his worth during the previous season.
Alpine will see the arrival of a new Director: Davide Brivio who comes from Moto GP.

But each Grand Prix is above all an opportunity to meet the best drivers on the planet like the unavoidable Lewis Hamilton (contract under renegotiation at the time of writing this article), 7 times world champion and winner of the previous season with Mercedes, holder of last year’s manufacturer’s title. We can also see Max Verstapen (Redbull), Daniel Ricciardo (Mc Laren), Fernando Alonso (Alpine), Sebastian Vettel (Aston Martin) as well as many young talents like the Monegasque Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) and the French Pierre Gasly (Alpha Tauri) or Esteban Ocon (Alpine) who will be very observed and encouraged on their land.
It will also be the occasion to participate to the return of a Schumacher on the circuits with his son! The young Mick will make his Formula 1 debut with the American Haas F1 team.
